This title comes from a book that traces two fairy tales as a way of understanding what forces women encounter as they grow into their deep feminine. I painted this piece in response to what I was reading…that women often need to climb ladders or many stairs or even stone walls to find a place of refuge and compassion where they can rest, grow in self-awareness and find personal strength and voice. The watercolor painting is mounted on a 10×10 cradleboard.
