I’m Hannah, the painter who’s The Artist Between Worlds

We all live between worlds…the past and the future, childhood and adulthood, life with a partner or without a partner, staying or moving, in one job or shifting to another, gainful employment or loss of employment, family members with us and then not with us…these shifts and transitions make up our human lives.

While all of us experience many different worlds in a lifetime, I’ve discovered that people don’t manage these changes the same way. Some people are fearful and angry; others are curious and receptive. I’ve found myself experiencing this entire spectrum of emotions to life changes whether they are chosen or happen by circumstances.

The symbol of a ladder began appearing in my paintings about five years ago. As I learned more about them, I understood ladders to be a form of travel and connection. This is part of a larger painting that I completed of ladders using colored pencils and acrylic. Taking my favorite section, I coupled it with a moon.

What does it mean to travel by moonlight? How is it different than daytime travel?

Here is a playful imagine of the parent dropping lovely colors and dimensions down to the baby who is busy arranging and nesting!
